WHO DOES WHAT
Each Section has a Section Leader, who is trained and warranted, supported by other warranted leaders. Section Leaders are also helped by non-warranted assistants, usually parents of current or former members of the group, who prefer not to go into uniform and who help on a regular or occasional basis. Some of these are people with a special skill or interest that they can share with the boys and girls.
All leaders and assistants, who are in direct contact with the boys and girls, are vetted by the Scout Association and also by the Police Criminal Records Bureau. This is an unfortunate necessity in the difficult times we live in.
Parents and guardians wishing to help in any way with the boys and girls are encouraged to undergo this vetting process, at no cost to them, so that a pool of helpers is available in an emergency such as a leader being unavailable at short notice. The rules of the Scout Association, and our insurers, insist on certain ratios of adults to children in different sections and on different types of outings, so it is vital that we have enough "vetted" adults to allow us to deliver the activities that your child enjoys as a member of 1st Ewell Court (St.Clement's) Scout Group. The forms included with this pack allow parents and guardians to indicate if they wish to be included in this pool of helpers and undergo the vetting process.
The Group Scout Leader makes sure that the sections integrate and that common threads and policies run through the whole Group. He liaises with other Groups in the District and with the District Leaders to make sure that our Group is involved in wider issues. He is also the link with the Executive Committee.
In order that the trained leaders can concentrate on the front line activities they run with their charges, the vital background work is done by an Executive Committee with a Chair, a Treasurer, a Secretary, members representing the interests of each Section and other interested parties. They look after financial aspects, property maintenance, equipment, fund raising and the like.
